## Forum Background and Moderation
On October 13, 2026, during the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Electronics Fair, YADA Executive Director Mr. Wei Yuanqiang was invited to attend the Startup Zone forum to share insights on "The Mindset Gap Between Entrepreneurs and Investors." The forum was moderated by Mr. Sham Wai-chuen, Chairman of the Angel Investment Foundation, with the YADA Executive Director drawing on his own experience to share observations and perspectives on youth entrepreneurship.
Common Challenges Faced by Young Entrepreneurs
The YADA Executive Director pointed out that young entrepreneurs sometimes lack industry knowledge and social awareness, leading to incomplete or skewed startup project designs and even misguided market focus. He emphasized that these are not insurmountable obstacles, but rather a process of learning and correction. A good mentor can help young teams avoid unnecessary detours, and can further leverage their own networks and resources to provide practical support to startup teams.
AI's Dual Impact on the Entrepreneurial Journey
Speaking about AI's impact on startups, the YADA Executive Director noted that AI is accelerating the entire entrepreneurial journey, fundamentally altering the advantages of some tech-capable teams while also empowering those that previously lacked technical capabilities. Either way, AI has sped up various business processes, including prototyping, product development, and product cycles. However, the truly critical factors remain the business concept, understanding market needs, channel development, and resource integration—technology itself is not the sole ingredient for success.
Agility and Vigilance: The Winning Mindset for Young Entrepreneurs
In his closing remarks, the YADA Executive Director stressed that approaches that worked in the past may no longer be effective today, and are unlikely to remain applicable in the future. Young entrepreneurs must stay agile and remain constantly vigilant about changes in the market and environment to hold their ground in the rapidly evolving entrepreneurial landscape and achieve sustained growth.
